The attached Powerbook (and Portable) utilities were written by Insignia Solutions to solve a problem that SoftPC users encounter on the Powerbooks. During periods of low usage (no keyboard or mouse activity), the Powerbook will go into rest mode to reduce power consumption by reducing the processor speed to ┼ 1 MHz, which brings DOS activity in SoftPC to a standstill. To disable the rest mode function, run the dontrest utility. To restore the rest mode function, run the rest utility. You may want to place both of these utilities (or aliases of them in the Apple Menu Items folder inside the System Folder so that you can activate them from the Apple menu. These utilities are equivalent option-clicking on 'Minutes until sleep' in the Portable control panel to get the hidden dialog which allows the rest function to be set. Enjoy.
